Hi! I'm Iris van Eijk, 27 years old and already part of Ditio for some time now. When you ask me about my hobbies, I usually say I don't have any, but that's not entirely true. I mainly have a lot of occupational therapies. Every Saturday, I lead a scouting group for children aged 7 to 11. I also enjoy being creative: making things, doing crafts, and recently I've been trying to teach myself how to crochet. As if that weren't enough, I also do ballroom dancing and badminton. So sitting still isn't really my thing.
My career began in the laboratory. There, I quickly discovered that my interest lay not necessarily in the lab work itself, but much more in systems and how information is organized. Based on that interest, I started a traineeship, but unfortunately I did not successfully complete it.
With renewed courage, I then went to the IT Career Fair. There, I got talking to people from Ditio. The contact felt right straight away, and after a few more conversations at the afterparty, things actually moved surprisingly quickly. Not long after, I was officially hired, on my birthday no less. You couldn't wish for a better gift.
At Ditio, I mainly work as a Solutions Consultant. In that role, I help customers to organize their information management better and smarter. That could mean, for example, helping to set up a SharePoint environment again, including smart automations. But I also perform quick scans to find out what an organization really needs.
If such a scan shows that a Document Management System is more suitable, I also provide support in selecting the right software. Because document control is an important part of information management, I have also carried out a number of assignments as a junior document controller. This allows me to become familiar not only with the advisory side, but also with the practical implementation.
For me, the pleasure lies mainly in the variety. I work on different projects, which also vary in content and duration. This keeps my work challenging and educational.
I also really enjoy getting a behind-the-scenes look at different organizations. You work with many different people, each with their own way of working. That sometimes presents challenges, but also wonderful experiences. For example, in my current assignment, I even got to do some welding under supervision. And let's be honest: you wouldn't pass up an opportunity like that, would you?
Oh, that's a difficult question. I don't have a single project that I can say: this is the project where I achieved something great. So far, I've enjoyed them all equally. Every project has something different to offer, and that's what makes it interesting.
As with my projects, I don't yet have a specific moment that stands out in capital letters. So no big memorable moment, at least not yet. I'm waiting patiently for that. Who knows what the future will bring.
To be honest, I don't feel comfortable giving a definitive answer to that question yet. I'm still in the middle of my development and am still discovering what I really enjoy doing most. As long as I continue to learn, explore different aspects of the profession, and develop myself, I feel completely at home here. What exactly will that look like in the future? I'm leaving that open for now.
