This is Ditiosi: Meylin Veerman

What’s it like to work at Ditio? We ask our employees themselves. This time, it’s Meylin Veerman’s turn. Meylin joined Ditio in 2024 as a Junior Project Controller. She’s happy to share her experience at Ditio.

Meylin, could you briefly introduce yourself?

Hi! I’m Meylin Veerman, 23 years old, and as you might have guessed from my last name, I’m from Volendam. I have several hobbies that I really enjoy. For a long time, I played the violin in an orchestra; although that’s over now, we still get together regularly to play. I also love to bake, and right now I’m totally obsessed with the sourdough starter, so every weekend I try to make my bread even better. But let’s be honest: nothing beats having a drink in the sun with my friends.

How did you end up at Ditio?

I completed my bachelor’s degree in 2024, after deciding to extend my studies by six months to pursue a minor. I had always assumed that by the end of my bachelor’s program I would know exactly which direction I wanted my career to take, but things turned out differently. My final exams were over, and I still didn’t have a clear idea of what I wanted to do.

There was one thing I did know: it had to be either a master’s degree or a traineeship. On my mother’s advice, I decided to give myself a push and visit the career fair, with the idea of exploring my options more broadly. Although I have to admit that I went there somewhat reluctantly, that changed at the very last booth. There, I got into a conversation with Ditio, and almost immediately I felt: this is a company that suits me. After some deliberation, I decided to apply for the traineeship. An interview followed soon after, and not long after that, I joined the company.

What role do you fulfill at Ditio?

I am currently participating in the Talent Program at Ditio as a junior project controller. Through this program, I am gaining both theoretical knowledge through training and certifications and practical experience on my projects. This combination allows me to focus on developing into a mid-level project controller, with the ultimate goal of advancing to a senior role.

What makes your work so enjoyable?

What appeals to me most about this field is the variety. No two projects are alike, and you constantly encounter situations that could have been handled differently or better. You carry those experiences forward to future projects, which means you’re always learning and growing, even in the long run.

What is the most fun project you've done at Ditio?

My first assignment was at Tata Steel, where I am still currently employed. There isn’t one specific project that stands out to me; all of them were educational and interesting. However, I am looking forward to being involved in a project from start to finish over the next one to two years and successfully delivering it.

What does the Talent Program entail?

In the Talent Program, you’ll receive all the tools you need to develop your skills to an intermediate level—from training and certifications to soft skills. During the first few weeks, you’ll receive training at the office, and then you’ll be assigned to a project where you can put everything into practice and really kickstart your development.

Would you recommend the Talent Program track?

Absolutely, it's a great way to get your career off to a strong start.

What is a memorable moment within your career at Ditio?

It wasn’t a major milestone, but a recent highlight was seeing my first project successfully move to the next phase, where it will proceed to the implementation stage. This was also the first time I actively contributed to drawing up the budget and schedule. Of course, I ran into some challenges along the way, but those challenges provided valuable learning experiences for the future.

How do you envision your future at Ditio?

Right now, I can’t imagine working for any other company besides Ditio. I’m given plenty of room to grow here, and there’s a pleasant, open atmosphere that makes Ditio special.
