Ditio supports Gasunie in the area of document control for various capital projects, including the Delta Rhine Corridor (DRC). The Delta Rhine Corridor is an initiative that is part of the development of a transportation network for hydrogen and CO₂. The DRC contributes to achieving the climate goals of both the Netherlands and Europe.
The project involves the construction of a hydrogen transport system from the Maasvlakte to Boxtel and a CO₂ transport system between the Maasvlakte and Venlo.
Ditio supports Gasunie within the project team in the area of document control. We help ensure that document flows remain manageable and transparent throughout the entire duration of the project. Our work ranges from drafting and maintaining the Document Control Plan, procedures, and work instructions to providing day-to-day support to the project team.
In addition, the Ditio team provides support for the setup and management of the current Document Management System (DMS), which is based on SharePoint. This setup continuously yields new insights and opportunities for improvement. These are assessed for feasibility and added value for the project and, where appropriate, incorporated into the workflow.
A major challenge lies in the scope of the project, combined with the relatively short timeline. The Delta Rhine Corridor is a large-scale and complex project involving many stakeholders, with various activities taking place simultaneously. This calls for a clear and structured approach to document workflows.
In addition, the scale of the project means that the current SharePoint-based tools will eventually reach their limits. To ensure that the existing environment aligns as closely as possible with the project’s needs, significant attention is being paid to establishing a clear structure for processes, metadata, and workflows. This ensures that document management remains manageable even within the current environment.
In addition to providing day-to-day support in the area of document control, the Ditio team also contributes to the continuous improvement of document management processes within Gasunie. In doing so, we bring both our expertise in document control and document management and our practical experience from other large-scale projects.
Thanks to this combination of knowledge and experience, we are able to support Gasunie in organizing its document workflows in an efficient and controlled manner. This contributes to transparent information sharing and supports not only the DRC project team but also other Gasunie projects in effectively carrying out their various project activities.
Working on a project that spans a large geographic area is a valuable new experience. Many Ditio projects take place within a clearly defined environment, such as a shipyard, construction site, or factory grounds. The Delta Rhine Corridor project is different. It spans a large part of the Netherlands, which means we are dealing with a broad geographic scope and a diverse group of stakeholders.
In addition to the usual project stakeholders, homeowners, businesses, water districts, municipalities, provinces, and other government agencies are also involved in the project. Providing clear information and carefully documenting relevant materials help the project maintain a clear overview and manage the various information flows.
This experience demonstrates that document control within a large-scale and geographically dispersed project is not just about managing documents, but also about creating structure, clarity, and transparency within the project organization.
